Podcasts
I started podcasting in 2017 with Weg! Stories, and have since built a proven track record in producing high-quality podcasts, from concept and production through distribution, marketing and audience growth. By staying up to date with local and international podcast trends, I have also consulted on various projects, developing strategies to maximise their potential for success. I use audience and performance analytics not only to provide insights to stakeholders, but to continuously optimise content and improve results.
This experience culminated in my current and largest podcasting project to date: Klankgolwe, a company-wide podcast network that I have overseen from conceptualisation through to distribution.
Klankgolwe
Klankgolwe is a company-wide podcast network bringing the group’s media titles together through a shared audio platform. It develops and distributes original Afrikaans podcasts and audio series across multiple genres, while exploring subscription and digital content opportunities.
Drawing on my experience in podcast production, consulting and knowledge of the podcast market, I led the feasibility study for a company-wide podcast network. Following the presentation to the board, a colleague and I were tasked with developing and launching the network, including its strategy, marketing, podcast roster, commissioning of new shows and content quality standards.
Klankgolwe launched in April 2025 and has since published more than 40 podcasts comprising over 1,200 episodes.

Weg! Stories
Weg! Stories was the first podcast I created, with the first episode published in October 2017. It was a bi-weekly podcast that initially ran for 47 episodes, with the English version, Go! Stories, published in the weeks in between. Each episode featured an interview with an author, followed by a reading of one of their stories.
I managed the podcast end-to-end, from conceptualisation, recording, production, music scoring, hosting and distribution to marketing. By 2019, it had become one of the biggest Afrikaans podcasts in the world, with more than 300,000 listens.
Following the establishment of Klankgolwe, Weg! Stories was revived, with new episodes offered as subscription content. The podcast has since reached 97 episodes and counting.
Below are two examples of Weg! Stories episodes, as well as an episode from Go! Stories.

Lank, lank gelede
Lank, lank gelede is a history podcast that I co-host with former Die Burger and Weg! editor Bun Booyens. It has become one of the most successful podcasts launched under Klankgolwe, with each episode exploring a new historical topic. We have published 62 episodes to date. The podcast is available as subscription content, with the first episode made available for free below.

Huisgenoot Ware Lewensdramas
Huisgenoot Ware Lewensdramas is a true-crime podcast, with each episode focusing on a different crime that shook South Africa. I was responsible for managing the podcast, liaising with editors, and overseeing its publishing, distribution and marketing.
Originally recorded as a television series, the episodes were edited and repackaged as a podcast. The first 25 episodes were published for free, followed by 50 episodes available exclusively to subscribers.
The podcast has since surpassed Weg! Stories in total listens and is approaching 500,000 listens.

Die Babbelbende
I recorded the Die Babbelbende podcast with actress and voice artist Elanza Swart. Babbelbende is a children’s video series created by Huisgenoot that has since expanded into books, stories, games and now a podcast. I handled the recording, production, publishing, marketing and distribution of the podcast.

Who Are You?
Dutch journalist Fred de Vries, who lives in South Africa, was commissioned by the Royal Netherlands Embassy and Consulate General in South Africa to produce a podcast series exploring identity through interviews with people from different backgrounds in and around Cape Town. I was approached to produce the podcast. Each episode includes a conversation between Fred and me, reflecting on the interview. We were also invited to discuss the series as part of a panel at the #CoCreateIdentity Experience, hosted by the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Cape Town. Watch this conversation here. Below is an episode from the series, as well as the panel discussion.
